We own wireless towers near your community which are fed by a symmetrical high capacity fiber network owned by Jelly Digital. This tower has to be able to "see" your home for us to provide you with internet service.
Then - we jump to your house over a wireless connection via a small dish on your roof which is aimed at our tower. Elegant and super cool!
From the dish on your roof we extend a cable into your home and plug it into our router which provides you with WiFi and an Ethernet jack.
Did you know that fiber in your neighborhood is likely powered by wireless at some point? That’s right! Telecom companies routinely use point to point wireless networks for “backhaul” to connect one region to another. It’s common to follow a fiber from your neighborhood right to a tower containing wireless radios like the ones we use, which actually feed the fiber that enters your home.
Just as fast as fiber and in most cases faster! Your neighborhood fiber “node” can be oversubscribed and slow if too many of your neighbors decide to stream movies at the same time. Microwaves (Jelly Wireless Technology) travel closer to the speed of light than light through a glass fiber. The impurities in the glass actually slow down the photons more than our air does to microwave signals.
Wireless is encrypted for security and it’s nearly impossible for anyone to tap into your communications. Wireless is also less susceptible to damage from downed lines. Less cable is less risk. Fact: Local brush fires are constantly taking fiber lines down in San Diego. When these lines go down you lose access to internet and critical communication capabilities.
Mother Earth prefers wireless technology as well! It’s green! Less cables equals less pollution. It’s prettier than wires on a pole! This also makes it easier to upgrade capacity since we don’t have to dig to upgrade. We simply make our upgrades at a single point - our tower. As file sizes keep increasing and the need for more bandwidth grows - we will be there to grow with it!
